One thing to note about the TH55 is that it has TWO versions of each of the built-in applications. From the app launcher, you can tap the icons for Memo, or Datebook, or Todo, and you get the old OS 4 applications, the same as on any other Palm powered device. There is a tabbed menu alongside the right hand side of the screen that also has the items Memo, Datebook, Todo, FreeNote, etc...tap one of these and you get the enhanced versions.

The new MemoPad has a 32 kilobyte text buffer, although the clipboard capacity is still 1K. If you fill the buffer past the old 4K limit, you can beam all the memo to another Palm PDA if you use the "Split Memo Text" option in a menu. If you have 32K of text, it will be split into 8 memos of 4K each in the other PDA. The only thing missing, I think, is that you can't go the other way. If you have alot of 4K memos from other PDAs that you want to combine into a big 32K memo, you have to do it one kilobyte at a time via the clipboard. It'd be nice to be able to combine small memos with a menu option.

Haven't used the new Datebook much, but it has a totally different appearance.

The real gem is the new Todo...it works like an outlining program with a hierarchical structure in which each item can have a sub-item, and a sub-sub-item (3 levels of nesting supported). You can collapse the sub-items with a tap and hide them out of sight, so you can make more efficient use of the screen space. Items can be promoted/demoted with a tap. Items and sub-items can have attached memo notes or FreeNote drawings (just four kilobytes, though). Also, the way item Priorities works has changed...in the old Todo, you can only use Priority to change the way the items are sorted. In this new Todo, you use Priority to change which items get displayed. Although only three levels of item nesting are supported, in combination with a clever assignment of priorities, you can select which items show on the display 15 different ways. The one thing that prevents the new Todo from being a fully-functional outliner is the fact that the sub-items are not "attatched" to their parents. If you move an item that has children, only that item moves to its new location in the hierarchy -- you have to then relocated each of the children to stay with the parent. But since, practically speaking, you spend alot more time just looking at an outline than you do creating it, moving items around. So all in all it's a nice little improvement.

The FreeNote drawing program absolutely blows away Clie Memo.

I also have the UX40 and UX50, and was disappointed to find that although they run OS5, only same old tired Palm apps are built-in. I hate hate hate 4K memos! Yes, with a keyboard like the PEGA-KB100, you could actually use the TH55 to write your novel.

One convenient thing for those like me who also own the SJ33 is that the batteries and the chargers are identical to those for the TH55.

For some reason the Movie Recorder application is not built into the ROM -- you have to HotSynch it in from the CD.

I'd give the TH55 five stars, except that I feel the camera should have more than 300,000 pixels. If it had a sharper camera like the NX80V or the NZ90, it'd be the cat's meow!

This PDA is very functional and easy-to-use. It stores quite a bit of memory, and the features are very nice and useful. The only things that I disliked were that it is black & white (though color PDAs were hardly on the market when I bought it), and that sometimes the font is very small and I couldn't find a way to change that. It provides a great memo pad, Paint program, and photo viewer. You can also add creative touches to your downloaded pics using the paint program, which proved to be entertaining. You can also get great features and downloadables for this PDA, which is a slightly older model. I bought the IPAQ because it offered synchronized functions with MS Outlook on my PC. The synch worked OK, but I soon regretted the purchase. Working with the tiny stylus on a tiny soft keyboard image was tedious in the extreme, and THEN the battery stopped keeping its charge. Bought a new battery. Soon the next one stopped keeping its charge.

Now the IPAQ will not turn on AT ALL, even sitting in its recharge dock. And of course the total failure happened after the limited warranty had expired. And this for something that cost me a lot more than a smart phone.

I'm going low tech for a while to get the bad taste out of my mouth.

I had this PDA for almost two years now and it still works properly except that it's internal memory falls short compared to other PDAs. Most of it's people seems to complain it's battery usage especially when operating cameras but if you make your backlit screen minimal as possible, then the camera will last longer even with the flash. I do that all the time and usually gets me 50 shots with flash if used continuosly without quitting; quitting so would make results for your battery life different. MP3 works great but you'll need to format your mp3s to atrac3 using sony's software since all it playback is atrac3. I also recommand that you get at least 256mb of merory stick pro for this one; that way you can backup lots of data in case your pda screws up and also to store some video clips, games, works, etc. If you want to playback mp3s, buy the standard magicgate merory stick fot it; only those can playback atrac3s. This pda can access most of webpages too as long as it doesn't eat away too much of merory space. I purchased this unit as a kind of retro technology so I would again be able to play tapes in the car (since my newer radio plays CD and MP3 on discs). Utilizing the auxiliary line-in, I needed something small and easy to control that I could lay in the tray beneath the console. This seemed to be the best solution, especially since I saw it had auto-reverse and a remote control. However, the remote is a wired control that only functions with the supplied ear buds. It is hard wired to them, eliminating the option of having the wired remote available for using in my car, or for that matter, any other headphones I might want to use (especially since I am not particularly fond of ear buds). But since the unit's controls are fairly simple and easily accessible when placed in the car, I can live with the remote.
The sound is very good and there's lots of available volume...the bass boost is great. However, I seem to detect a slight quaver in the high notes when the unit is playing a tape...more so when the unit is jostled. This is, unfortunately, a common trait in the smaller portable tape players, but I was hoping this unit would perform better, considering how advanced the tape mechanism appears to be. I know that the tape condition can be a factor as well, but so far, all the tapes I've tried seem to have the same very light quaver at times.
In order to test the longevity of the supplied Ni-Cad batteries (which needed a 10 hour charge first), I played tapes through my PC speakers. The battery light stayed green and the unit played for about an hour and a half; then suddenly the unit just quit without any warning! No display, nothing. Fortunately, the option exists to use alkaline AA batteries in a pinch...I replaced the Ni-Cads with a couple of these, and it was back working. So I'm less than satisfied with the battery life, as it was touted to be good for eight hours of tape playback after a ten hour charge. I'll charge the batteries again when I get home and see if there's any improvement, but I wonder if NiMH batteries would be better.
The radio seems to be pretty sensitive on both AM and FM bands...this is a plus, as I listen to AM a fair amount, and I've found a lot of digital tuning portables don't even offer an AM band anymore.
Even though I don't plan on using the ear buds, I tried to install the foam pads that came with them...first try, the pad tore, making it useless. So much for that...if I decide to keep the player, what I may do is eliminate the buds and hard-wire a female stereo jack. That should allow me to use any headphones I want and still have the remote available.
I also found the supplied case that came with the unit to be too snug, and with the player stuffed into it, the button clasp doesn't reach around to snap it closed. So, overall, I have mixed feelings about keeping it, and will continue testing it.

(added on 7/10/09) I found the battery life to be better after another charge cycle, so that's a plus...also, the quaver seemed to go away after a while, so perhaps it just needed to 'break in' a bit. You don't see alot of HX2750s, but let me tell you, its not because they are not awesome. Fastest CPU (over 600Mhz), most memory, BT, WiFi and finger print reader. I installed tomtom on it and now its also my gps.
The finger print reader is so much easier to use then a password, you swipe and your done, smooth!

It is not so often I really like electronic devices, especially microsoft software run devices, but this device takes the cake. The complexity of mobile devices is insane today. Some devices take an amazing amount of time to learn and even then have problems that only an expert can resolve. This phone (and software) on the otherhand is absolutely user friendly and functions properly for the general public (I include myself in the general public considering my lack of programming skills, limited knowledge of the interworkings of these complex electronic devices, and the limited time I will dedicate towards configuring the devices).

As a comparison, I own two symbian phones (a nokia e61 and a sony ericsson p1i). Symbian is just trouble from the start. I thought I was crazy, but after starting to use this phone, wizards take on a new meaning. I had my gmail account setup in 30 seconds on the tytn ii unlike the numerous problems of setup with the other phones. Almost anytime I find the need to figure out a feature, I can usually find the option within 30 seconds, or if I cant, the HTC manual is complete and orderly therefore allowing a usually quick reference to determine the necessary configuration.

The number of utilities this phone has is just fabulous. Considering the phone size, many people say it is huge, I say it couldnt be better. It is smaller than my e61, although thicker. It is a bit of a brick at first touch sense it is 190grams, but with the features, you just can complain. The battery life is somewhat of a problem if you use continuous email. I have found though, that when I switch my email to only push and shut off the data connections the rest of the time, I get about three days on a charge, so truly the battery functions just well. I dont think any other devices can run a constant data connection much longer anyway.

To finish, this is my business phone. It does the job. It does it better than most other phones probably can and with greater ease (less necessary contact with your crumby tech support guys). If you need half of the options this phone delivers, dont hestitate!

I have owned one of these PDA's since it first came out. The only problem I ever had was I had to replace the rechargeable battery after about 8 years. The only reason I am looking for a new one now is that my wife's cats knocked it off my desk one too many times, and the LED screen went out. I never had any problems w/ this PDA and I would recommend it to any of my friends. The camera worked good and I even had multiple 5 min videos on it and it barely took up any space on my external memory card
(I think it was a 1 or 2 gig card). My wife gave me this pda as a present and I was upset when she told me what it cost when it came out but it was well worth it, I believe I used it for over 10 years. First the things to love. The keyboard: best on any PDA. Large, well-spaced, backlit keys. Just the right size to use one-handed or two-handed. Special characters and shifted characters available via consecutive (not simultaneous) key presses. Shift, then alpha instead of shift-alpha.

The one other thing to love is the built-in memory, over 100 MB in several forms. The most important of which is the Media Flash RAM, works like a built-in Memory Stick. If you put this handheld on a shelf for a couple of months and let the RAM die, everything you have is safe in this memory region. When you next powerup, you are prompted to restore your old data. Sure, you can save your stuff permanently on Memory Stick -- HOWEVER, you have to manually save everything. And you have to remember to save everything! Not so with the built-in Media Flash RAM: backup is automatic and worry-free. Convenience is why you use a PDA in the first place, isn't it?

The recharging cradle is also nicely done, it adds only a quarter-inch or so to the handheld's thickness. Very comfortable to hold and use the PDA while it's sitting in the cradle. Which is also a practical necessity since the battery life is pathetic. While the UX40/UX50 uses the same thrifty Sony ARM chip the TH55 has, the built-in battery is so wimpy it lasts only an hour or so, and a couple days when turned off. They made a clip-on extended battery pack, but it costs $$$, if you can find one.

Then there's the screen. First, it's small. If you juxtapose the UX40 screen with that of the TH55, you will see it has the same 480 x 320 resolution, but physically it's about 1/4 inch shorter. Then the color depth -- the colors are washed out on the UX40. I mean, it seems okay just looking at it, but when you hold up the UX40 screen to the TH55, you can see immediately that colors aren't nearly so rich as they might be. This makes pictures on the UX40 look even fuzzier...

Which brings me to the camera. Point three megapixels. Fuzzy pictures. Why bother with the camera if you can't put in a decent one? To be fair, the TH55 also has this lousy camera. And I don't hear so much about the UX40/UX50 cameras breaking down as much as the other Clies. One small advantage on this Clie is you don't need a Memory Stick to use Movie Recorder, because of the built-in Flash RAM.

(This has been mentioned elsewhere, but it bears repetition: There is a way around the crummy-camera problem. Get a used Sony Cybershot digital camera (available here at Amazon). Put your photos on the Memory Stick, then plug the MS into the Clie. The Clie Camera app should be able to grab your pics off the MS (so I'm told, I haven't actually done this myself). Just make sure your Cybershot uses Memory Stick Pro -- different from Memory Stick. You can use the Pro Duo MS with an adapter.)

And the bluetooth is nothing to get excited about. IT's BT 1.0. Transferring a memo takes about 8 times longer than using the infrared. And the user interface is horrid, you have to tap about six times to complete a BT transaction. Even if you have only one trusted device in the BT registry, the software still prompts you to tap your selection for the target BT device. C'mon guys!

Lastly, there are the built-in applications. This Clie runs Palm OS5, but you get the same old OS4 applications. Think 4K memos. Non-hierarchical Todo lists. The lackluster Clie Memo drawing program. (see my review of the TH55).

Summary: superb keyboard and memory. Mediocre in all other respects. Even so, I have to admit that I use my UX40 quite alot because the keyboard is so nice, but only for inputting data. Then I beam it over to the TH55 for the serious work.

General Overview: The Jornada is a great tool for those who want to type on the go. You can purcahse a PCMCIA card to give access to the Internet. The look of the Jornada is terrible, but can be fixed.

Pros: This device can be syncronized with your computer so if you need to tranfer files to and fro you can. It also has pocket versions of Microsoft Office. The audio on the device is surprisingly good, and you can play mp3s, wavs, and wmas. (Maybe more, but I have not checked) It is light, being about the weight of your remote control and fits in the palm of your hand.

Cons: The look of the Jornada is very old, and XP and Vista users will find it hard to adjust. (Lukily there is a fix). Also the rpograms you can upload on this are minimal, so dont expect to be running much else than what is put on it. (Though there is a PLUS! packaage that included paint, spell checker, and more) Finally the battery life lasts about 5 hours if you want to just plain even look at te screen without it being dark.

Fixes: As I said, the look is rather distasteful. The desktop can be changed easily, but that still makes Icons and the Taskbar look ancient. Look for a pogram called Gigabar that donwloads directly to your Jornada. Youll want the 1.59 version, than download any skin for it. I thought this product was great. I had a prior Ipaq and upgraded when it finally went south after several years of use. I was impressed with this models speed and ease of use. Now let me just start by saying that I've been with Sprint Nextel for 4 years now, mostly because the company I work for switched wireless provider and I get associate discount. There's also the Picsel browser which I think is one of the best apps this device has to offer. Browsing the web is easier and so much fun. Picsel doubles as a document viewer. The device is Navigation compatible and various apps are available to download at different prices. Like with most smart devices Sprint Navigation is not compatible, but trust me, you won't miss it. Just buy a better one from the store app. Handmark Pocket Express is amazing on this device and provides you with free accurate maps, news, weather and so much more. The devices screen is large and displays an ok resolution. Nothing to get exited about really, the screen is fairly larger than most. The device itself has no video capabilities, atleast not out of the box. If you like streaming videos from YouTube mobile then you can buy a video streamer from the apps store. Once that's set you'll be ready to watch your vids in high res full screen. As far as the phone quality goes, I've got no complaint. It's not superb but better than the Palm Centros. As far as international features, which are the main attraction, the ability to control the settings with such ease makes this device better than most international blackberrys. The device also supports expandable memory. A mini SD card. Which is pretty good considering you can swap cards from other devices like your digital camera to view them or share media on the go. Up to 2gb are supported. With such a big size I wonder why there isn't a camera. The palm pilot comes with a stylus on the side that can be used to type things in, write things in (which can convert to typed), and the black end cap can come off to be used in the reset hole. Cons:
- The basics are easy, but there's a steep learning curve with many menus to configure for power users who want to get the most out of this phone (but you are rewarded for your efforts with almost unlimited customizing and features).
- handset volume could be better (the speakerphone sounds great though)
- The size of this phone may be kinda big for some (I personally like it's size, but it's probably not for everyone)
- The call buttons on the top are a bit hard to press due to their shape, you kinda have to use your fingernails.
- Once annoyance is the lack of button for speakerphone (it's burried in the menu...time to find an OS hack for this..)

Nokia replaced this phone in 2009 with the E71, but they made the screen much smaller, only 2.3" now!" Big mistake Nokia. I'll keep my E61i and never have to squint.

Tips: The included web browser isn't bad, but Opera Mini (free download) is better. As far as Youtube, go to their mobile site to have it integrate with the included Real Player to watch videos. Anytime you can't figure something out or something isn't working the way you want, just search in google and you'll find the fix every time. There is almost nothing you can't do with this phone, it is like the ultimate geek toy.

First off, do be aware of the following:

(1) The operating system on the Dell Axim X30 is Windows Mobile 2003 SE (Windows Mobile 4, Second Edition). This version of Windows Mobile isn't supported by Microsoft anymore. The current version of Windows Mobile is 6.1.

(2) The Dell Axim has been discontinued by Dell since 2007. You will have trouble getting any support from Dell if you run into any problems.

If you're not yet deterred from getting the Axim, read on.

Over the course of nearly 5 years that I've owned the Axim X30, it has been plagued with problem after problem. Sure, there are many users who are satisfied with it but there are about an equal number us who have been dissatisfied with it as well. I've been through countless hours searching through newsgroups and Googling to seek answers for troubleshooting problems on my Axim. What I've found is that the problems I have with my Axim are not isolated instances that are specific to my Axim:

1) A problem commonly reported is the backup battery going bad or burning out. There is no way to replace it unless you want to venture into cracking the case open and soldering the right kind of battery on.

2) A lot of users, like myself, have the problem with the built-in storage spontaneously disappearing. The PPC doesn't "see" the drive anymore; it's like it doesn't even exist.

3) Activesync frequently fails to sync some task and calendar items.

4) Pathetic battery life. I can squeeze about 2.5 hours from the battery it comes with - and that's with Bluetooth ans WiFi turned off and the screem dimmed down. Although there are batteries with higher capacities, these are slightly bulkier and jut out from the back of the unit.

5) The power/data connector completely broke loose.

The Final Straw
---------------
The final straw came when the data connector broke completely loose. Enough is enough - I decided that I had simply wasted too much time and effort (and money) into trying to fix the problems on my Axim and that it was more trouble than it was worth. As a replacment, I got the HP iPAQ 111. I've had it for a few months and so far, I've been pretty happy with it.

First of all, this is a used Sony Clie UX50 PDA that's in very good condition. The product arrived in a timely fashion as expected. After charging and turning on the unit, the backlight was turned downed so low that I had major problems reading the screen and even more problems trying to determine how to adjust the brightness. The HP iPAQ 5915 is a misbegotten hybrid of multiple bad systems. The ONLY place it shines is in the navigational software functionality. All else is garbage.

HP's links to Windows and TomTom are not streamlined, meaning the device frequently conflicts with software provided by one or the other manufacturers. Updates and additions require frequent rebooting and shutting down of "services" before the device can be activated.

If you still have a 3800 and plan on using it, you're probably aware that certain aspects stop working, namely the battery or the stylus won't stay attached despite the fact it still clicks when placed into the stylus silo.

The easiest way to address the famous dropping stylus is taking a piece of electrical tape and wrapping around the top portion of the stylus about 1/2 inch below the top point of the stylus that typically fits between your thumb and index finger while writing. Keep wrapping layers of tape until the stylus fits snug again. Be advised that over time you'll have to add more tape, read on and look at my user submitted photos to find out why.

We aren't going to describe how to remove the motherboard or replace the screen, it isn't impossible but we didn't have to repair these components and refrained from fully disassembling the iPaq just for curiosity.

1. On the back of the iPaq are six visible torx head screws, four at the principal corners and two others at the southern points by the reset button and data / charger conduit. REMOVE ONLY THE FOUR AT THE CORNERS and ignore the bottom two, the two bottom screws are only necessary if you're removing the entire circuit board to access the screen.

2. Lay the iPaq face down on a clean surface.
Use your flat head driver here to gain some leverage in the side seam, this iPaq isn't tightly fastened when compared to opening a BlackBerry and hardly tight when compared to an iPod. CAREFULLY, AND WE STRESS ... CAREFULLY SEPARATE THE BACK FROM THE FRONT HALF BECAUSE THE BATTERY CONNECTOR IS A DELICATE RIBBON CABLE THAT ISN'T EASILY REPLACED !!!

3. REFRAIN FROM USING YOUR COMPRESSED AIR UNTIL YOU'VE DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY !!!

Open the back panel towards the head phone jack like opening a book and using the longitudinal side of the headphone jack as the hinge. With your needle nose pliers, unplug the ribbon cable from the battery / back panel , USE THE PLIERS TO PULL STRAIGHT UP AND REFRAIN FROM ROCKING IT OUT SIDE BY SIDE,, ROCKING IT OUT CAN DAMAGE THE CONNECTOR.

4. This is a good opportunity to use your compressed air and blast out any dust and scum, NEVER SHAKE A CAN OF AIR BEFORE USAGE OR HOLD THE CAN AT AN ANGLE GREATER THAN 45 DEGREES BECAUSE YOU CAN SPRAY MOISTURE INSTEAD OF AIR. If you've already sprayed moisture onto the mother board your chance of damage will be much less if you disconnected the battery. You can wait for the moisture to dry out and is often white in appearance until it fully evaporates. If you can't wait, then take a Q-tip and discharge any static before you dry off any moisture marks.

5. Take your Q-Tips and dip in the rubbing alcohol to clean off any plastic components such as the stylus silo, you may notice what seems like black flecks of contamination inside the iPaq. These flecks are the result of rubber / polymer foam deterioration and is why the stylus won't stay put. The stylus silo functions with two major components, a spring ejector at the very bottom which is used to "eject" or pop the stylus up when you press it, and a friction block rubber foam polymer on the back panel that holds the battery. Over time this friction block will break down from wear of removing and inserting the stylus, it breaks down even quicker if you stored the iPaq in a glove box during the summer months. There are two of these blocks on the back panel and the other one acts as a contact buffer to protect the power connector on the motherboard. DON'T ATTEMPT TO STEAL THE PROTECTOR BUFFER because it is thicker and you'll have difficulty trying to glue a flat block of rubber into a semi circle silo. You can use your compressed air to blast out as much of the loose rubber here and if you're a real neat freak, you can use a Q-Tip with the alcohol to remove all the rubber flecks. Chances are the rubber flecks have semi melted to the back panel from whatever summer heat that broke it down in the first place and trying to clean it will only satisfy your obsessive compulsive disorder.

If you're replacing the battery, use your flat head screw driver to pry the battery pack from the back panel, the battery pack is glued and can be gently pried off by starting at the corners, then when all four corners are pried, start the mid points between each corners, again rotating as you go along. IF YOU STILL CAN'T REMOVE THE BATTERY, then pry again this time at the mid points between the corners and the first loosened mid points, continue this process until you've remove the battery pack.

Attach your new battery pack to the back panel, ensure the connector is facing outward and on the bottom (duh). If your replacement battery pack didn't come with a double sided adhesive strip, don't fret because you can simply use a piece of cellophane tape rolled back onto itself make a quick double sided tape while reassembling the 3800, this will be adequate because the battery won't move after the 3800 is put back together.

Reconnect the battery connector, this can be easily accomplished with your thumb and ensure you press straight down while supporting the back panel and battery on a solid surface or by holding the back securely in the palm of your other hand.

An iPaq is tighter than a ducks butt when assembled and nothing will come loose inside even an unfastened battery pack as long you can keep it positioned during the reassembly.

You can test the successful battery replacement by turning the 3800 on before the reassembly, be careful not to touch the motherboard when doing so with your skin or anything metal.

Replace the screws and don't overtighten, a good rule of thumb is tighten an electronic fastening screw just as tight as you would a tube of toothpaste, overtightening metal onto plastic will just strip the plastic threads or you'll just end up breaking torque and your screw driver will strip the screw after it breaks out and you'll have a much harder time removing that screw in the future.

The unit was new in 2003-4 I guess.

I can't remember how long I have had my 2495b but it has been at least 3 years. I have a 4Gb compact flash card and a 2Gb SD card installed and I consistently get 8 to 9 hours. I have never had a problem with this device and it is used 7 days a week. For those of you with the problem of the battery draining, I would suggest you go on the HP support site and research. Microsoft had a problem with the alarms/notifications waking the device up and draining the battery. If I recall, it was a Microsoft problem, not HP. It was a "Microsoft Windows Pocket PC 2003" problem. Google it and you can find a fix. If I remember, I had to change a few settings. Make sure you have the latest Rom installed and have applied all the HP updates. Also, make sure that you set the external keys to not turn the PDA on, with the exception of the on/off button. If it is in your pocket, many times the 4 lower keys will turn the unit on unintentionally. There has been extensive discussions of the battery drain problem on the HP Forums. One solution was setting up a "fake server." Apparently, Microsoft never stepped up to the plate to provide a fix. However, as in my case, there are work arounds. I have been well pleased with my Ipaq, especially the battery life. Hope this helps.

The Dell Axim X30 624 Mhz was released in 2004. It still has a lot going for it; it's sleek, compact, and attractive, it's got Bluetooth and WiFi, and a 624 Mhz processor (the fastest processor available then). But I can't imagine why anyone would want to buy this outdated model, especially since the price listed here for a brand new unit is higher than what it retailed for in 2004. It uses Windows Mobile 2003 (WM v4), which isn't supported by MS anymore. The current version of Windows Mobile is 6.1.

Additionally, Dell has discontinued the Axim X30 since 2007. You will have trouble getting support from Dell if you run into any problems.

But complaints about it being outdated aside, the Dell Axim X30 has a few significant problems with it:

1) A problem commonly reported is the backup battery going bad or burning out. There is no way to replace it unless you want to venture into cracking the case open and soldering the right kind of battery on.

2) A lot of users, like myself, have the problem with the built-in storage spontaneously disappearing. The PPC doesn't "see" the drive anymore; it's like it doesn't even exist.

3) Activesync frequently fails to sync some task and calendar items.

4) Pathetic battery life. I can squeeze about 2.5 hours from the battery it comes with - and that's with Bluetooth ans WiFi turned off and the screem dimmed down.

5) On my X30, the power/data connector completely broke loose.

Just a quick review, that the seller for mine shipped it in exactly the state he promised.
I have owned a T3 before, but I ordered this because the hotsync had broken on my old one.
This is the last great PDA from PalmOne, and if you should be fortunate enough to get one in decent shape, you will see why.
I still fail to understand why the PalmOS PDA is nearing the end of the road, while PocketPCs and so called smartphones (Ooooh! a touch screen!...c'mon!) are replacing it.

PalmOne Tungsten T5 Handheld Top Quality

I've had my T5 since they first came out (how long ago was that???) even tho folks were telling me that Palm was going to treat it as an "end of life" product (the LifeDrive came out shortly afterward and then the T|X). Bottom line for me is that I feel as tho I've had it forever (my previous Palms were PalmPro (internally upgraded to a III), IIIxe, M550). I used to use it as an MP3 player (PocketTunes) but turned to an iPod for much more music & much better quality sound. Other than that -- I use it for just about everything: e-books (great for reading in bed without bothering your hubby at night using MobiPocket Reader; have over a hundred books stored on a 1 GB card with room to spare); scheduling; travel tracking; database (a customized tasking database using DataViz SmartList), calendar, games, pictures, and video (does well with QuickTime videos btw). Am struggling now with the fact that I'd like to move to something FASTER but....Palm no longer makes PDAs. That market has devolved to just HP and I don't want to lose all the apps I have that won't run in Windows Mobile at all. Sigh.. so I guess I'll continue with my trusty T5 until...
